Senior breakfast will be Friday, July 24 between 9AM and 10AM in the cafeteria. It will be hosted by the junior class. Rehearsal will begin at 10AM on the football field.
Senior commencement will still be held on Sunday, July 26 at 2:00 P.M. on the football field. In an effort to follow state and health department guidelines, each senior is allowed up to six guests. It will be on Facebook Live for those unable to attend. We thank you for your understanding during this time.
Kindergarten graduation will now be held on the football field on Monday, July 27 at 6:00 P.M. Rehearsal will be Friday, July 24 at 12:00 P.M. There is still a limit of five guests per child. It will be on FB Live. Please contact Mrs. Rich at 517-990-5591 with any questions.

*SPORTS PHYSICALS*
All 2019-20 sports physicals will be honored this year. New athletes will need to have a physical completed. Forms are located in the vestibule of the main office. Mr. Gifford will have all parents complete a health questionnaire at the beginning of the year.
Elementary report cards will be sent home this week. M/HS grades will be finalized for viewing after 3:00 P.M. on Friday.
Summer activities are slowly getting underway! Athletic Director, Robert Gifford, has provided his coaches with the following recommendations:
1. Coaches are highly recommended to wear masks.
2. Temperature check of every player upon arrival. Temp can't exceed past 100.3 or need to be sent home immediately and not return for two weeks.
3. Temperature and name of player are to be documented at every practice.
4. Maintain social distancing guidelines.
5. Clean and rotate equipment (volleyballs, footballs) every 30 minutes.

Our third grade Spartans conducted a science experiment! They had to figure out how many drops of water could fit on a penny. Using a dropper, they had to keep going until the bubble on the penny burst. Spartans, Zander and Mary, had the highest drops - 32! Great job class!

Our Spartans, K-12, celebrated "Hawaiian Day" as part of spirit week! Here are our seniors all ready to head to Hawaii for an early spring break!
*HAPPENING NOW*
Amanda Janes, Hillsdale Center Coordinator, is meeting with our sophomores to inform them about the Early/Middle College program. There will be a parent informational meeting on November 6 at 6:00 P.M. in the Media Center.
*KINDERGARTEN ART*
Mrs. Brighton is working with our kindergartners on coloring! She noted they are doing their best to SLOW down and expand color choices.
Spartan varsity football cancelled for today. Rescheduled Saturday, September 28, at 7pm
*TEAM BUILDING*
Our MS football Spartans were defeated by Lenawee Christian on Wednesday, 20-12. That didn't stop them from enjoying pizza and bonding after! Thank you, Spartans, for reminding us that it's not always just about the win. It's also about sportsmanship and teamwork!

The elementary sign up sheet for P/T conferences has gone home. M/HS parents: teachers will be in the Media Center. If you cannot make it, please contact the teachers you want to speak with. Contact information can be obtained on our app or website.
The varsity football game against Tekonsha tomorrow has a new start time of 5:30 P.M. It is a home game. GO SPARTANS!
*WILLIAMS' BOYS MAKE THEIR MARK*
Today was cattle day at the fair and it was a good one for Sam, Seth and Silas Williams! Seth won feeder calf rate of gain. Silas received fourth place feeder calf rate of gain. Sam got second place steer rate of gain, second place showman in his feeder calf division and won 12 year old steer showmanship! He also placed third in his market steer class! Phew!! Hard work paid off for these Spartans! Excellent job!!
*NORTLEY'S EXCEL AT FAIR*

Mariah Nortley swept the equine category at the fair this week! She earned "Supreme All Around Equine Champion!" Mariah, your determination and many hours of preparation make all your fellow Spartans extremely proud!

Congratulations to our Spartans showing in the goat show today! They included Grace Emens, Jena Fellabaum and the Fether kids! Luke Fether earned Reserved Champion in his class. Jena earned second place in showmanship. Dakota earned third place in showmanship and Becca Fether earned fourth in showmanship. Way to go, Spartans!

Sam Williams' hard work is paying off! This Spartan earned best in class with his model of the USS Arizona and honorable mention with his field corn entry. Keep it going, Spartan!!

This week Mrs. Jones is in Grand Rapids at the Michigan Council of Teachers of Mathematics Conference! MCTM advocates for excellence in mathematics education for all students. Mrs. Jones is attending a variety of sessions that will assist her and Spartans within the classroom.
On Saturday, our Jr Pro boys' coaches Cody Birdsell and Hunter Moore held their first Triple Threat Academy session! Our young Spartans learned various basketball skills to help improve their game! Our coaches plan to have another session, so be sure to stay tuned for details!

On Tuesday, Spartans attended Nerd Camp up in Parma! They participated in workshops, met authors and went home with autographed books!

*GRANT RECIPIENT*
Ms. Amy Mroczek received a grant from the Hillsdale County Community Foundation in the amount of $1,500! These funds will be used to purchase a marimba for our Waldron Bands! Look forward to seeing and hearing it at upcoming concerts. Great job, Ms. Mroczek and thank you!

*INTERACTIVE LEARNING*
Our fifth graders went to the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum earlier this week! They were able to participate in science labs that included dissecting a cows eye!
*Rock-A-Bye-Birdie*
Our fifth grade Spartans recently built and decorated birdhouses! You will now find these, and hopefully some birds, around the school campus. Thank you, Spartans!
*STAFF BBQ*
After parting with our Spartan students one last time for the school year, our Spartan staff ran to their cars, grabbed their lawn chairs and headed for the courtyard! Superintendent Potts showed his appreciation to his staff by grilling and providing a nice lunch.

We scream for ice cream! Many thanks to Olin and Margaret Miller, parents of Ms. Hall, for visiting our kindergartners and first graders! They showed our Spartans how to make homemade ice cream! Our Spartans even helped make the ice cream!

Our Spartan volunteer, Mimi, has been collecting books over the year to provide each student books to take home and read over the summer. We thank Mimi for this and encourage our Spartans to share what they read with Mimi in the fall!
