update

Good afternoon Waldron!!

As our world evolves into what has been called our "new normal", we have all faced many challenges.  Messages seem to come from every direction and are often overwhelming.  With this in mind, I have waited to share information with you until I was as certain as possible that it would not change.

Here are some details for the start of the school year:

The first day will be September 8, 2020:  This will allow us to be confident we have everything we need to be open and clean as well as give our teachers as much time as possible to prepare.

Students may return to school in person if the state remains in phase 4.  All students will wear face coverings on buses.  Elementary students will wear masks in the hallways.  Middle and high school students will wear masks throughout the day.  Students who have a note from their health provider and those who are unable to put on and take off a facial covering will not have to wear one.

Parents may choose for their child(ren) to receive instruction remotely.  Chromebooks and internet hot spot devices will be provided.  We will use multiple platforms for this instruction to take place depending on the grade level.  Students will receive instruction from teachers, there will be assignments given which will be required to be done to earn a grade and credit for the class.  If the state moves back to phase 3, all students will be learning remotely.

We will do everything in our power to keep everyone safe at school.  We will be cleaning and disinfecting more than ever.  Students will be taught to wash their hands and use hand sanitizer and everyone will be encouraged to do so.  Precautions will be taken on a case by case basis to keep people who may be sick away from others.  We understand that many people have some symptoms almost all the time and we will treat them accordingly as non-COVID related.  Should a case of COVID be identified in our school, we will follow health department guidelines which are being shared with everyone.

Athletics will continue to progress as indicated by the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) as we are a member school.  Each sport will have specific guidelines and procedures for their season.

Together, we will make this school year a huge success for everyone!  Please let us know what questions you have by calling the school, emailing me at mike.potts@waldronspartans.org, or calling/texting me at 517-990-7805.  Thank you for allowing us to serve you and your children!
